The Visitation

Measuring approximately 20cm in height, and made by the Bethleme community in France, this beautiful bas-relief plaque depicts The Visitation of the pregnant Virgin Mother to her sister Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary's voice she exclaims "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus...". To this Our Lady responded "My soul magnifies the Lord..."; the canticle known to us now as the Magnificat.

Above the depiction of the scene in this plaque is the word "Magnificat".
