Honeybee numbers have declined over the years, partly down to the loss of flower-rich habitats. The National Trust has installed hives across many of its properties and introduced more wildflower meadows and bee-friendly garden plants. At Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire, there's now an observation hive where visitors can watch the bee population at work.
