Our Lady of Walsingham Guide Book
This tour of The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham includes maps of the Shrine Church and its grounds. The guide explores the near 1000 year history of this holy site, once the most important Christian shrine in England, and a major destination for medieval pilgrims across Europe.
Built in the reign of Edward the Confessor and visited by English kings and queens for over 400 years, the Shrine was destroyed by Henry VIII during the Reformation. The Shrine was restored in 1922 by Father Patten and is once again the national centre for pilgrims of all faiths and none.
